The Art of Learning - Josh Waitzkin

For any serious Chess fan, Josh Waitzkin is a name that is familiar. A chess grandmaster, Waitzkin was the subject of the critically renown film adaptation of the book 'Searching for Bobby Fischer' which was written by Josh's father.

Waitzkin played chess for many years, and then decided to take up martial arts. In particular, he specialized in Tai Chi and the martial art of 'Pushing Hands'. In the book 'The Art of Learning', Waitzkin explores the depths at which he has mastered the ability to learn new concepts and things. Waitzkin develops his thinking about learning the intricacies of chess and chess strategy and uses it to master a completely foreign art, 'Pushing Hands'. The book, then, is a story of Waitzkin's history and method, and an explanation to think like him.

I therefore highly recommend looking at Waitzkin's book, and seeing for yourself the Art of Learning.
